How Quantum Physics Relates to Us---example of combined realities

Quantum Physics has to include the variable of the observer into the mix, as seen in the particle v. wave experiments. This combines the realitive observation sof many people to create something bigger than the sum of its parts.

---combine what many people see, perhaps with video?...

Size of the Universe

Wow, nice camera, man.

The Size of the Universe--Powers of Ten

Nice transitions from large to infinitely small.

MIB Final Scene

Could do something similar to combine the very small with the very large. Start on an atomic level and work my way out to the glaxies

String Theory From "The Elegant Universe"

Nice introduction sequence, also chalk board writing is nice touch. ----Points to scientists working it out.

From "The Elegant Universe"

Like the way that electro magnetic, gravity, super force is shown as letters. Interesting way of combing the letter forms with what the forces do.

Dr. Quantum Explains Entaglement

Dr. Quantum Explains Double Split Experiment

This is an clip from the movie "What the Bleep Do We Know?" which expalins the double split experiment in a cartoon way. My aim would be to show this in a more visually appealing way, that appeals to a younger audience.

Donnie Hoyle-You Sucjk at Photoshop

Funny tutorials----"Donnie Hoyle" teaches photoshop using a narrative about his own life. Funny and relevant, you actually want to hear more to find out more about the story. Could be a response to Donnie's photoshop tutorials with after effects, from the wife's point of view.

Tall Ships racing game

There are obstacles such as bad weather, icebergs and land to take down your time as you try to reach the different ports in time.

Technical Brief

If I wanted the theme of the technical brief to be magic, could re-create these kind of magic tricks using after-effects...

How to Play the Bagpipe

This is for the Tam O Shanter Poem where the term 'Cutty Sark' comes from. I needed to see how someone played the bagpipe so that I could, in turn, try and make the Devil, in the shape of a dog, play the bag-pipe.

Vertigo-Systems

Looky what I found! So, the technology exists and it is definitely possible. I like the water effect when you walk. The rippling is a nice touch. However, this is projected from the top, instead of the bottom which can look cheap. But this technology can be used on the slide, projected from underneath!

after effects tutorial

Really bad music. The person giving the tutorial doesn't seem very supportive. But this is what is out there for beginners, so that's that. Goes through very fast, not zooming, if you didn't know after effects at all,  it would be difficult to see what is going on...

Adobe Creative Suite CS3

Creating an experience

Still Standing

I really like all the messages that the interactive design communicate. The execution of them is impressive and well thought out. This is by the same designer that did the intraculator.

Designs are created to be understood and enjoyed at a glance, requiring no attention span. 'Most people in our society have the luxury to slow down and watch, but do not take the time. Television puts people in a comatose state without giving them a blank frame between shows to even think about something else. Still Standing is an installation that invites participants to stay motionless and contemplate its poetic content.

Still Standing consist of an amalgam of characters projected on the wall as if they were resting on the floor. When a participant walks in front of the projection, the first reaction of the text is to act as if it was being kicked, pushed by the user's feet. The user can keep moving around, pushing the text left and right. When the participant stops for a short moment, the text will be attracted towards the user's position and will move up, like water soaking his body. The participant can then enjoy a motionless moment and contemplate the textual content that becomes more and more legible. When the user is done and decides to start moving again, the text falls back to the floor and wait for a new interaction.'

Intralocutor

Brings a whole new meaning to intonation.

"
Intralocutor is designed to encourage observers and participants to reflect on how people affect one another with their words. Two participants enter the installation and begin to speak. A real-time video capture is made of the two and projected onto a wall behind them. The video has been altered so that all observers see is the silhouettes of the two. As they begin speaking, the speech of person A becomes visible, moves from person A's mouth and interacts with person B's silhouette. Depending on qualities of person A's speech such as speed, volume, pitch and rhythm, her words might bounce off person B silhouette, or penetrate it, or simply stick to the "skin". The appearance of the words also respond to the speech qualities; for instance, words said with stress appear elongated and shaky; words said with a heightened volume expand; words said with a quickened rhythm come out crowded together. "

Very very cool. Too cool for school, like. Great interaction and visual.

Southbank Show- various opening credits

The Southbank show seems like an older version of the Culture Show. The opening sequences are very relevant for the c.s. openings, as they include various forms of art, yet they are relevant for england as well. It is not just about culture, but about the world's culture in England.

Motion Reel found on Youtube.com

From Hong Kong school of Art

Steve Watkin motion graphics reel

The sequence on this site for Australia's first ABC1 channel. An assortment of Australia's best animator's and directors were chosen to complete this sequence.

I really love the film and animation together. It takes the simple ideas or just film footage, and allows a lot of motion and fantasy to come into the scenes. Not a clear narrative, but with the addition of the animations the whole piece is brought together.

I like the texture of the piece as well. Would want to try something like this for the culture show. Many layers, doing different things.

Can take the basic principles of the culture show, whether that is going to the theatre, being at a gig or an art gallery, and having animations and 2d images play within the scene.

Dendrite 3

Little tid-bit of info

Like the neon, like in the Jonas/francois video (Kandinsky-testarossa autodrive) Could work...

Dendrite 2

Cool beans...

Neural Impulse: Dendrites

Cool movement. Good potential for an opening sequence, maybe start as a dendrite and move into other things that behave in the same way, incorporate different cultural artifacts...?
